Evaluation

Question-1
In what ways does your magazine use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real magazines?

To be able to create an authentic media magazine it was crucial for me to follow some of the traditional forms and conventions. I did add my own little touch and made it a bit more modern. So it wasn't exactly the same as the other magazines. It had to be unique to be able to sell.

Front cover-Masthead
I looked at many magazine to see where their mastheads were based on their front cover, many where based on the top across the page. There were a few that were placed horizontally down the page, but I didn't really like that style for my magazine so I stuck to keeping across the page on the top of the cover. I did add my own touch but adding a floral background to the masthead. It was something different I really liked it and the results to my questionnaire showed the same.

Colour scheme.
For the magazine to look as real as possible they usually stick to 2-5 colours’, it makes it look more professional and gives the magazine an organised look. The more colour you have the crazy the page looks. Because my audience for my magazine are teenage girls who are very fashionable the like stuff very sophisticated so having it look quite elegant with only a few colours’ attracts them to read it.

Front Cover- Cover lines
While analysing a few magazine I realised the cover lines are usually place on either side of the front cover or on only just one side of the cover, usually just the left. So sticking to the traditional form I put the cover lines on either side of the page. This made the page look more fuller and outgoing attracting the target audiences’ eye when going to purchase it.Front cover-Proportion of image. I stuck to a large bold image in the center of the cover. Most front covers have the Center image covering the masthead, it’s usually rock magazine but because my magazine genre is pop I thought it should be a little different.

Content page-layout
The layout of my magazine is quite different to the contents pages I analysed I think by having it quite different made it look unique. As my front cover was quite traditional and stuck to the theme of what a cover should actually look like but having a little different contents page looks nice. I thought this would attract my target audience so I changed the traditional convention up a bit.

Double page spread- Amount of interview questions
The average amount of interview in the magazines I analysed were around 8. I stuck o 5 questions 5 answers from each band mate making 10 answers all together.

Analysis Of Emotive & Colloquial language -'WE❤ POP'magazine

The target audience for the magazine 'WE  POP' is aimed at teenage girls 13-17. The writer uses a lot of emotive language throughout this magazine. Emotive language is used to create empathy. Through the use of this the audience is able to understand the emotions of the characters and 'put themselves in a character's shoes, it affects the readers in many different ways. One piece emotive language that was used in this magazine was a negative emotion" Zayn ditches Perrie in a pub" this has affected the reader in a negative way many young girls must be feeling angry and annoyed, because of this the reader would want to carry on and would want to know  why zayn did such a thing. This also makes the reader want to carry on reading the article to know why zayn did it. Another piece of emotive language used in this magazine is a more positive but a little negative emotion this emotion is ‘love’ and 'jealousy', these emotion has a really big effect on teenage girls especially. “Hendall’s romantic getaway". The world’s biggest boy  bands team member is on a romantic get away with Kendall Jenner many young girls who love Harry Styles would be quite jealous of this of relationship but others would be very excited and just love it and be very happy about their 'romantic getaway' this also engages the reader in the article.

The target audience for ' Transworld Skateboarding’ is aimed for males aged 15-21. The writer uses colloquial language throughout this magazine. Colloquial language is the kind of language we use when we are speaking to friends. Writers usually use this language to be able to relate to their audience and to kind of show them that they are your friends not just a random person who has written an article for them to read. “What the hell is Tehachapi?" by using this type of language i think the writer can relate more to the reader especially because it is the perfect target audience.

Analysing the double page article of a magazine

The theme throughout the article is rock, from rock artist to rock bands and their.  This double page article is about ozzy osbourne, osbourne is a rock artist or as some may say ‘rock guru’ this article relates to the front cover of the magazine. The magazines main coverline “through the keyhole” this is suggesting what is on the other side of the door, this article is about Ozzys’ study room also known as the ‘The Bunker , its telling us about all the interesting things he’s got in there by doing this it makes the reader feel like they know him a lot more and they can relate with him.it would make them feel like as if they are a friend for knowing a lot of information about him from what he’s interested in and what he’s not interested in. one of the items he has in his study is a picture of him and Paul McCartney from the Beatles, he also tells us why he has it, when he first heard the Beatles he said “it blew my head off. I’ve never stopped loving the Beatles since”. This is telling us how much he loves the Beatles and how much they actually mean to him. Another item he has in his study is History books who would have ever thought Ozzy the rock star is interested in history, he tells us, “I’m very into world war two, I’ve got thousands of books on it, this shows us how passionate he is although he is “dyslexic “he like to “to get stuck into stuff” in a sense once he has read something he wants to carry on or learn more about that topic. He's also showing us although your dyslexic you can do so much.

  Analysing the editors letter

The editor’s letter is a very informal piece of text, he has written this letter as if he is just messaging a friend, by doing this he makes the reader feel more comfortable reading this. There is a picture of the editor on this magazine this makes the reader relate more to text also they get an inside on who has written this magazine and to let them know this person is real.
